Activities

The Piedmont region and in particular the area around Monte Viso are a dream for outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, artists, gourmets and culture lovers. From the MVI backyard there are countless natural and cultural spectacles to explore.

There are two ski areas in the Po Valley, 10-30min from Ostana: Crissolo and Pian Muné. Both offer spectacular views, steep colouirs, sunny sloes, and great backcountry and touring access. One valley to the South, in Valle Varaita, there is the Northern exposed tree skiing area of Sampeyre, about 1h from Ostana. Limone Piemonte south of Cuneo is the biggest ski area in the region, and Argentera on the pass to France is a high alpine access treasure with great snow accumulation. Right from the MVI one can ski tour more than 1000m vertical to the top of Punta Ostanetto (2600m asl).

Mountain Biking

This area is a mountain biker's dream. During the First World War, the Italian military built gravel roads up to most ridges and passes. One can cycle up on these quite mellow paths - and then flow down on countless single trails.
